Eating A Culture
According to the American Immigration Council, nearly a quarter of New York residents are immigrants, while almost one-fifth of residents are native-brown U.S. citizens with at least one immigrant parents. Many New Yorkers grew up in a home that was not really American, but it also was not really deeply embedded into their parent's culture. It is a mixture of feeling like you have an identity, but also feeling like you are a fraud. Growing up in a country removed from your ethnicity, requires something tangible to be close to. Food.
